MOUSBAH MOGHRABI

“Stitching together British craftsmanship and artistic design in a one-of-a-kind story”

Mousbah Moghrabi works exclusively with fabrics that are supplied to one of the last remaining ateliers in the UK,
in Cheshire, where every suit is hand made featuring the traditional full canvas construction, the hallmark of
Saville Row suits.

“The atelier has existed for over 100 years, they learnt their craft from Italians and have since then passed it on. The artisans working there have been refining their skills for years, and this is reflected in the impeccable quality. Fully canvassed suits are a very laborious project, the canvas is made from horsehair, allowing it to be bouncy and this is what allows the suit to mould to your body over time without losing its structure. It is the big tell-all of what distinguishes a good suit from an immaculate suit,” says the designer. Yet it doesn’t stop there, from the full canvas construction to the smaller details, everything is accounted for. Mousbah adds: “Some details don’t carry benefits in terms of the fit of the suit, but they have a more beautiful and aesthetic advantage while also showcasing the art of design. For instance, all our buttonholes are hand-sewn and the buttons, hand-stitched. A treat for a trained eye. Crafting just one suit can take up to 40 hours, not even accounting for the artwork, to put that into context, it would take an entire working week to finish a single suit, that’s how you know the quality is of the highest level,” says Mr Moghrabi.
