LUISA ET LA LUNA
In the dynamic world of fashion, where creativity intertwines with conscientious craftsmanship, Luisa et La Luna emerges as a celestial beacon. With over 12 years of experience working for various brands, the visionary designer behind the brand, whose journey remains deeply personal and passionately artistic, shares insights into her inspirations, sustainable ethos, and the harmonious intersection of art and fashion.
The inception of Luisa et La Luna finds its roots in a culmination of experiences. After over a decade of contributing her design expertise to diverse brands, the Founder felt an undeniable call to embark on her creative journey. “I always had in my mind that, at some point, when I had enough experience, I would create my own brand,” she reflects. Her mother’s influence as a sculptor and a deep appreciation for the creative process guided her towards a profound connection with art, photography, and, eventually, fashion. The brand’s nomenclature is a testament to the designer’s commitment to personal expression. Drawing inspiration from an enchanting moment in Barcelona with her daughter, she recounts the origin of the name. A children’s book featuring a mother’s quest to bring the moon to her child sparked a metaphorical journey. “Luise and the moon” became a poetic expression of her Argentinean roots, French influences, and a personal connection to astrology, encapsulated in the playfully titled “Luise et la luna.”
For Alicia Rodriguez Cavalli art isn’t just a medium—it’s an intrinsic part of her being. With a background rooted in both fashion design & art direction and a sculptor mother, every collection is a canvas woven with influences from art,
architecture, interior design, and sculpture. Intense mood boarding precedes the design process, with each piece telling a narrative informed by a myriad of artistic elements. The brand aspires to evolve into a more artistic entity, with a consistent aesthetic that threads through each season. The balance between creating fashion-forward pieces and maintaining sustainable practices isn’t just a challenge—it’s a design philosophy. The designer’s non-negotiable principles guide her through technical considerations, emphasizing her skills and attention to the process. While some pieces may be more editorial, sustainability remains unwavering, with production localized in New York.
The latest collection, “Venus Descent,” draws inspiration from astrology. Rooted in the orbital cycle of Venus, the collection metaphorically echoes the goddess’s journey through various gates, shedding facets of identity. It’s a celestial dance translated into clothing and jewelry, where each piece represents a facet of the self. Among the designer’s favorites is the Manifesto dress, a captivating synthesis of ancient mythology and modern aesthetics. Translucent organza merges with voluminous, balloon-like draping, creating a piece that’s both ethereal and fashion-forward. It’s a delicate balance of hard and soft, a celebration of the brand’s ethos.
