JACX CARTER DESIGNS

Enchanté Communication had the pleasure of sitting down with TieSha Carter, the founder and creative force behind Jacx Carter Designs, to talk about her approach to jewellery design her advocacy for mental health and female empowerment. Tiesha Cater, the Founder and creative mind behind Jacx Carter Designs, is a self-taught jewellery designer who has built her brand from scratch, and her work has been featured in publications like Vanity Fair and Vogue.

TieSha’s journey to becoming a jewellery designer was not a traditional one. With more than 20 years of experience in software engineering she turned to jewellery design as a form of creative therapy. She found that the process of designing and creating jewellery helped to quiet her mind and provide a sense of purpose and accomplishment. Her designs became a source of comfort and relief – and after the encouragement of her family and an increasingly growing amount of jewellery projects left in the house - she decided to turn her hobby into a business.

“I can attribute my love for fashion and jewellery to my family, in particular my grandmas. They were always walking around with matching purses and wonderful costume jewellery. I was really brought up surrounded by creativity, yet it was only when I hit a mental block 2 years ago that I delved into my love for creating,” says TieSha. Through her designs, TieSha expresses her emotions and tells her story. Her pieces are intricate and bold. Each piece is a work of art, with a story behind it that adds depth and meaning to the design. Her brand has become a symbol of strength and resilience, with each piece serving as a reminder to those who wear it of the power of self-expression and the importance of mental health. TieSha clarifies: “I want to ensure that everything I create is truly unique, and one-of-a-kind. When I notice I’ve been creating repetitive, it’s time to switch things up and start experimenting with different materials, colours… you name it!”

“As a small business, it’s paramount to me to source my materials from other small businesses within my community. Not only

can we support each other but they provide the expertise I might not have. It’s all together a very creative, supportive process and allows me to establish long lasting relationships. They give me advice on material, while I can be rest assured it’s the best quality and turn it into art they can then further promote”, says TieSha.
